John Kolas received his B.A in 1978 from Purdue University, Calumet and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1983. He began his legal career as Vice President, Legislative and Legal Affairs, at the Indiana Association of Realtors in 1983 and has been in private practice in Indianapolis since 1987. He was admitted to the Indiana bar and the U.S. District Courts, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana in 1983.
A member of the Indiana State and Indianapolis Bar Associations, his practice emphasizes real estate transactions and litigation, tax sales, probate, professional license defense and representation of real estate companies and Boards of Realtors.
Mr. Kolas has published several articles of legal and legislative concern to the real estate industry state-wide. He was a chapter author for the Lawyers' Co-op Publication, "Indiana Real Estate Transactions" and is a former adjunct faculty member at Indiana University at Indianapolis. Mr. Kolas often serves as a continuing education instructor for both real estate licensees and attorneys. He served as co-chair of the Annual Real Estate Institute, of the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, from 1995 through 1999 and has served as a speaker at that and other ICLEF events several other times since then. He also regularly instructs and speaks at real estate boards throughout Indiana. Mr. Kolas has been awarded the "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
